THEY were living a charmed life earning more than RM30,000 (S$12,315) every month by falsifying documents.

However, the scam of three Myanmar nationals was discovered by the Immigration Department.

Two of them were detained, while a third was believed to have gone into hiding.

Immigration enforcement director Mohd Zamberi Abdul Aziz said the 1.30pm raid on Monday was conducted following two months of surveillance.

Officers seized passport belonging to various nationalities -- Malaysians (10), Myanmar (57), Bangladeshi (21), Indonesian (6), Thai (2) and an Indian passport.

In addition, 30 MyKad waiting to be forged were also seized by department officers.

They also seized various other falsified paraphenilia, including 93 Malaysian and Myanmar Immigration rubber stamps, 20 fake Malaysian visa stickers, 61 United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards, temporary working permits, as well as the tools of their trade including a printer.

The two detained suspects, in their 30s, were believed to head the syndicate, which police said had been operating in the Klang Valley for a year.

They are being investigated for possessing false documents, falsifying documents, as well as involved in human trafficking.

Zamberi said the syndicate's modus operandi saw them obtaining original Malaysian passports, Mykad and UNCHR cards to be processed before being sold to foreigners at exorbitant prices.
